Adaptive Cruise Control Simplifies Highway Driving

Drive Honda Safe with Adaptive Cruise Control in Santa Cruz, California

Here at Ocean Honda, we know that you're always highway driving on CA-17 and CA-1 whether it's up to downtown San Jose CA or down to Monterey CA to. And you're always using your cruise control, because it's convenient and it saves you gas.

What if there was a better version of cruise control? Introducing Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)! One of Honda's many driver-assistive features, ACC is a smart version of cruise control that slows down and speeds up automatically to keep up with the car in front of you. ACC gives drivers the comfort and benefit of cruise control that can be utilized even in light traffic.

How does this extremely convenient feature work? A radar unit placed beneath the car's grille emits radar waves that bounce off the vehicle ahead of the car, letting the system regulate the distance of the vehicle and the proper throttle position. You control the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you by pressing the Distance button. Each time you press the button, the following distance setting cycles through short, middle, long, and extra long following distances.

Your car will travel at the set speed when there are no vehicles ahead of you. When there is a vehicle ahead of you, your vehicle sustains the range selected with the Distance button by increasing or decreasing your vehicle's speed. If a vehicle ahead of you suddenly slows down or another vehicle cuts in front of you, both an audible and visual alert notifies you to brake.
